 Story of ATHENS and SPARTA

This is the story of athens and sparta,

At the end of 432 bc One day the people of Athens got bad news. It was reported that they had received threats from the people of Sparta that if they did not listen to them, they would attack them.

Basically there was a deep enmity between Sparta and Athens.

Athens was a democratic state while Sparta was ruled by oligarchs or dictators.

Athens was famous for its wealth and powerful navy while

Sparta completely depended on its military.

For many years, both of them tried to avoid direct warfare. But due to the geopolitical situation, the fight was now certain.

The leader of Athens named Pericles ignores his threats.

Pericles was a different kind of leader. He was a very disciplined man. And he always tried to avoid the war. So that the war expenditure of Athens is reduced and all the money can be invested in building infrastructure, roads and buildings. By doing this athens started developing very fast.

Pericles observed that before that all the rulers who ruled Athens used to take their decisions based on emotions while Pericles used to take his decisions on the basis of logic. The advantage of which was that very soon Athens became a developed country under the rule of pericles.

Once again there is a threat from Sparta, then Pericles makes a defensive plan. But this time the plan fails and Athens suffers a lot. The people of Athens blame Pericles for this. And they make a new plan. To attack Sparta. Pericles gives this advice in the parliament of athens that we should not go out of athens. Because we are not yet powerful enough to beat sparta. But ignoring Pericles,

The Athenians sent their 100 warships to attack Sparta. But all of them are destroyed by the people of Sparta. And gradually there is a decline of athens. He ignored Pericles' warning not to go too far from Athens. But they make an offensive plan out of emotion and destroy themselves.

Robert Greene says that most of us think that their thinking is rational but it is not so, because humans by nature are irrational. We take decisions on the basis of emotions by default.

But rationality is not a power that someone has by birth. You develop it through your practice.

Most of us simply react emotionally to the things that are happening around us.

It is very important to have calmness and patience in us to see any situation from a logical perspective. You should have the courage to ask questions. Only then will you be able to find a logical solution to every situation.

A logical person always thinks too far. Whereas an emotional man always makes short term plans.

Marshmallow Experiment

A research was done in 1960s, California, in which four-year-olds were called. And one by one they were called to the lab and by giving them a kind of toffee (marshmallow) they were told that if you do not eat this tofi for 20 minutes, then we will give you another extra tofi. But if you eat it before 20 minutes then you will not get any extra tofi.

Researchers tracked those children for 14 years and found that children who kept themselves under control for 20 minutes and did not eat toffee. Those children were more emotionally stable, did never give up quickly and could handle difficult situations with ease. Friends, this experiment is called marshmallow experiment.

From the findings of many researches, we know that our success depends 80% on emotional intelligence and 20% on how many facts and figures we know.

Now it has become difficult to decide whom we should trust, logic or emotion. Listen to heart or mind.

And in this article we are going to discuss this topic.

Hii friends my name is abhishek and welcome to the study edit.

A logical thinker takes his decisions on the basis of data, facts and evidence. And puts his emotional instinct on the right side.

And an emotional thinker takes his decisions on the basis of ethical values and emotion.

Now friends, both of them have some pros and cons.

But neither logic nor emotion is useful everywhere in our life.

And here comes the role of a wise thinking. Accordingly, you should keep both logic and emotion in balance.

If you want to take the right decision and want clarity in your life, then you have to be logical. You should base your decisions on facts, data, and evidence. Not on the basis of emotion. Which we learned from the story of athens and sparta at the beginning of the video.

Friends, take the example of any successful person. You will find that he was good at logical intelligence as well as emotional intelligence.

In 2008, Elon Musk almost bankrupted. His companies SpaceX and Tesla were on the verge of bankruptcy but his ability to handle emotions that bounce back attitude makes him successful again. In the Marshmallow experiment, we learned that 80% of our success depends on emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is the creator of visualization, creativity and the ability to bounce back within you. On the other hand, logical intelligence helps you in taking right decisions and brings clarity in you.
